High Strength™ is a 20 Mil Vapor Barrier and the gold standard in crawl space moisture protection. Engineered for performance, this barrier is constructed from 100% virgin polyethylene resin and reinforced with high-strength polyethylene ribbons woven in a cross-hatch pattern. A PURE Premium® laminated surface provides a smooth, seamless finish for easier installation and a professional look.
Unlike standard coated woven products, High Strength™ offers superior puncture and tear resistance while maintaining flexibility and ease of handling installing like a 12 mil, but delivering the strength of a true 20 mil barrier.

I spent hours laying out this stuff. While doing this I proceeded to roll and crawl all over it to anchor it to the walls, tape seams and cut around posts. There wasn’t a single tear in the material after all of this. I feel fairly reassured that this will hold up pretty well.
Despite the material’s resistance to my movements, it was still relatively easy to cut with a pair of regular scissors (no fraying at the ends either) and the drill bit went right through when it came time to put the anchoring pins in. As long as you aren’t making a habit of throwing your sharp tools carelessly around on it then everything should be fine.
The material is still easy enough to fold and bend around corners. There was a little more bend resistance than the usual 6-mil material but it didn’t cause me any trouble.
I do like that this was available in a smaller size. I was only dealing with a 12’x16′ addition crawl space and didn’t need anything more than the 4’x80′ roll. It gave me plenty to work with in case of mistakes without leaving too much excess left over.
20 mil silverback liner –
Delivery was next day as stated, packaged to protect product during shipping. I purchased the 12&20 mil silverback liner and also the 20 mil guardian liner. All seem to be of high quality. Only time will show how great the quality is but I have no doubts it will last.
I had several quotes to have my 3400 sqft crawl space encapsulated in the $10000-$11000 range. I purchased 20 mil for the floors, 12 mil for the walls and installed the Santa Fe dehumidifier and spent just over $3400.
The company’s that install these products are ripping people off that don’t know any better. It’s mindless work. Save yourself a ton of money and do it yourself.

More then strong enough for a crawlspace and easy to use and install. Flattens easy which is important when you are trying to seal tape it. Look Nice when you are all done.

I bought the 12mil silverback to cover my taller basement walls and the 20mil silver back to cover the crawl space area. Both products were great and I’d definitely recommend paying the little bit extra for the 20mil if it’ll be going over anything uneven or if, like me, you put storage bins in the area you’re covering. While the 12mil is nice and durable and good for walls, the 20mil is much more sturdy and a better fit for tear resistance.
Great products, though! The vapor barriers came rolled up and the other parts (I used the pins + seem tape) were in a box. Everything was included and the install was super easy.

I used this to seal my crawlspace walls. It’s extremely durable and easy to work with. Humidity was noticeably reduced in the crawlspace immediately as I got the wall sealed. Using the seal tape and seam tape as well as the pins to secure and seal the vapor barrier worked well.

I noticed an immediate difference in air quality when the job was done. The 20 mil plastic is thick but easy to use. I do not know about durability as I just installed it. But it does tape together very well.

Product is much heavier than available from big box stores, 20 mil , and installs easily tape holds seams well Well worth it for a durable long term investment. Used heavy felt under it to protect from puncture so access to the crawl space will be easy without fear of damaging the barrier

I used 20 mil SilverBack HS on the floor of my crawl space over Felt 550. It is thick, strong, but flexible to work with. Air quality is almost as in my room. I enjoyed working with it so much that now I plan to help my friends do that same thing in their house

This stuff seems tough. Really tough! Lays out nice, looks nice, seams together with their “proprietary” (doubt it) tape. The only problem is the fact that the rolls i received were both about 2’short of what they were supposed to be. I know exactly what my dimensions are of my crawlspace and they significantly missed the mark with how long the rolls are. I now have to find another way to seam the walls to the floor.

Challenging crawlspace with wall height ranging from 2 to 3 feet very hard to work in. The product performed flawlessly, and my wife and I were able to install it easily in a couple hours. The foundation tape held the Silverback in place while we maneuvered the roll. The foundation pins went in smoothly and hold the barrier firmly in place. Finished taping the seams and it looks great. I would recommend this system to anyone. We noticed an immediate difference in temperature and humidity once the product was in place. Better than advertised and the assistance we received when ordering was top notch.

I purchased the 7.75′ wide by 86′ long roll. I cut three equal length pieces outside, then folded the sections and transferred to the crawl space. You can just feel the quality of this material. I don’t see it breaking down or ripping like regular poly sheeting. I joined the sections with 4″ OSB Sheathing tape (which I had lying around) using about an 8″ overlap. The tape stuck great and I’m thrilled with the final result. This was the final piece of a full crawl space encapsulation using 2″ pink foam board on the walls and joist ends and bringing the vapor barrier up about a foot over the foam and taping there.

One roll did a 200 sq ft room addition with about 18″ going up the sides. Laid it out in the street, taped both seam sides, and carried it over to the open crawl space, Dropped it in and cut the corners. You could build a nice swimming pool with this vapor barrier!
