The 6 Mil Vapor Barrier Rough Soil® offers the low cost of our 6 Mil Crawl Space Liner with the protection of our Felt5100™. We have engineered these two products together to give a one step install, saving installation time and preventing damage from the crawl space floor due to debris, rocks and foot traffic. The bond between the layers provides just enough strength to aid installation. Use Rough Soil® for ground applications only; for walls, choose a non Rough Soil® barrier, as Felt5100™ will wick water.

Often, a crawl space doesn’t require a thick vapor barrier because it won’t see much foot traffic, won’t be used for storage, and doesn’t have rocky soil. A 6 Mil might be a good choice to handle moisture, but may not survive even the lightest of foot traffic. Which is why the 6 Mil Vapor Barrier Rough® was created.

The Rough Soil® Vapor Barrier class combines two popular products – The Felt5100™ and the 6 Mil Non-Reinforced Pure Premium® in one. Molten polyethylene bonds the Felt5100™ to the 6 Mil Pure Premium®. Each roll is Tested Pure™ and has a 15 Year Warranty.

Benefits of Rough Soil®:

• The Felt5100™ protects the 6 Mil Vapor Barrier from rocks and sharp object damage.
• The light bonding method of the two layers is to allow the installer to separate the layers when needed.
• The 85-foot side of the roll includes 10 inches of non-bonded material on each edge, allowing the 6 Mil Vapor Barrier and Felt5100™ to stack together at the seams as sections overlap. This keeps the Felt5100™ from wicking water to the StickE® Crawl Space Seam Tape.

Felt5100™

• Protects vapor barrier from punctures due to sharp objects in the soil, like gravel and edges of concrete foundations.
• Prevents the vapor barrier from sucking to the mud.
• Allows an air gap between the vapor barrier and the earth to mitigate soil gasses if needed.
• Will wick puddles of water and disperse across the floor accelerating absorption into the ground.
