Northern Ohio Crawl Space Repair

Fix My Crawl LLC recently completed a crawl space repair project in the northern Ohio town of Bucyrus. The owner of this property had ongoing indoor air quality problems, the higher than normal energy bills as well as seasonal problems with unwanted odors. This home had a layout we have worked with frequently in the state of Ohio in particular. The foundation consisted of a small basement section with three separate crawl spaces accessed from the basement. This style of foundation is more cost effective in initial costs, but leaves the homes occupants exposed to the dirt floor crawl spaces. This results in poor indoor air quality.

Upon examining the existing conditions we determined that our Silverback™ crawl space encapsulation system would resolve all the problems this customer was experiencing. The process of sealing all the exterior vents and air penetrations is only permitted by code if the dirt floor is covered by a crawl space vapor barrier and sealed to the walls as well as all seams and columns. After the crawl space encapsulation process was complete supply air was provided in each crawl space to aid in air circulation. R19 unfaced fiberglass insulation was added in the rim joist area around the entire perimeter. Proper crawl space insulation procedures coupled with the inherit benefits of crawl space encapsulation will likely save this customer 15% or more on their energy bills while enjoying the benefits of our 25 year warranty.
